Trying out new tools
Jan 27th 2025
Today when I tried to start making maps for cruelty squad I started to remember how much fun make stuff was
The modder's really knew what they were doing, everything was soo intuitive to make, all the de-bugging tools fun to mess around with, and the editor-engine pipe-line sooo much simple
Despite that I only spent around 5 minutes in the editor before trying to implement something similer in my own project
since cruelty squad was made in godot, the same engine I use, I thought that it would've been easy to copy the tools into my own project, but it turns out that the game was made using a very outdated
The tools I was most interested in were "trenchbroom" and "qodot", trenchbroom is a level editor originally made for custom quake and doom levels, but being an open-source program, alongside being a very old programe that still gets updated regularly, made it a very easy and fun to use tool for making levels
